I was alway led to believe that it was Chinese in origin, although it is widely used in Thailand as well.

ketchup, I believe is one of the few Indonesian words in the English language like "Gong" I think the original is spelled kecup or some such which may explain why there are two spelling in ingles.

yeah, i think it is an oft unspelled word in general. not a whole lot of writing goes on about the subject of catsup/ketchup. so "I love Ketchup !!" shows what i think is typically used for it... i can't say tired or awake i have a preference. i need to see what happens when i have to make a choice

Ketchup!....but if I'm really tired and find the need to spell it, then I count on Catsup to get me thru....cuz' that's how I was originally taught to spell it---before I became all classy and shit!

Ketchup. Oddly enough, though, I never find myself having to spell it. This is the first time in my life. Oh god, damn you Ben for making me spell this word. I was so close to living my entire life without having to do so, and now this!
